The Organizing Committee of the IBS2008 and its publishing partners are pleased to announce the publication plans and opportunities for publications. The instructions in this section are comprehensive not as a deterrent but for your ease of reference and to encourage submission of publications. Please especially note the deadlines in Table P2. The formal scientific publications of the IBS2008 will focus the following key publications (but are not limited to these listed – check for updates). Deadlines for submission are in Table P2.

The formatting and other standards for your documents should firstly conform to the publisher’s criteria for that particular journal as described in Table P2.
Format for Abstracts
The format for abstracts (Journal of Biotechnology) should conform to the IBS2008 call for abstracts format and other criteria as listed at http://www.ibs2008.org/abstracts.html and http://cn.ibs2008.org/abstracts/guide.php
Please note that an extended abstract will be needed for selection by IBS2008, thereafter a standard abstract will be required for print in the Journal of Biotechnology
Format for Full Text Documents
The following checklist is to assist you with your preparation of your Full Text submissions:
- Document is named
- Author(s)
- Affiliations(s)
- Contact details of corresponding author
- Section / discipline(s) of subject matter indicated clearly
- Keywords (not phrases) supplied with abstract / executive summary
- Abstract length as required by publisher
- Written in English (Either UK or US, not both), Times New Roman font
- Dated
- Within the page limit as set by each publisher
- Avoid formatting macros within document such as automatic numbering
- It is the duty of the author(s) to ensure their work is free of legal infringements. Where authors are unsure, it should be highlighted to the editors and publishers.
Where instructions on this page differ from the publisher’s, the publisher’s shall prevail. Most journals now have a dedicated author’s checklist that is available from the publisher.

In addition, please note the following criteria / notes:
- File / single email size <2mb
- Do not separate files associated with one article into several emails
- Affiliations(s)
- Send each article separately, do not send several articles in one email
- Please send emails only ONCE
- Zipped / compressed files NOT accepted (for anti-virus security reasons)
- MS Word 97-2003 (Windows)
- Authors may wish to provide a PDF with embedded fonts render of the Word document to ensure symbols and graphics are correctly displayed in the Word version (PDF up to PDF6.0)
- Document must be editable with full permissions
- Please do not send multiple draft documents
- Please do not include macros or embedded software within your email to avoid rejection by firewalls
- It is the responsibility of the author to ensure all photographs and figures conform to publishers’ criteria
- In submitting you respect the decision of the Publications Committee in accepting / declining your submission / correspondence.
Any other submissions, such as for the suggestion of a new book series topic, should be submitted to the IBS2008 Publications Committee at pub@ibs2008.org according to the following criteria.
